Rental costs as percentage of revenue

Firas: I suspect that working from home is ruining my productivity. So I was reading <a href="http://discuss.joelonsoftware.com/default.asp?biz.5.645101.15">this thread</a> and checked out Regus.com (and met their peeps in new delhi.) Quelle horreur! It turns out that their office solutions are actually at the most upscale buildings with premium support staff et cetera. Their 2-person office would cost at least $1.8k/mo, which is a significant cost for my one-person operation.

Now obviously I can check out other providers but it got me wondering as to whether anyone has a rule of thumb about what max % of revenue to put into office space. Assume bootstrapping rather than just throwing invested/borrowed cash at the problem.

(I guess the first thing to do would be to try their walk-in solution and see if it actually improves my productivity, and then ponder leasing providers/costs..)
