Not long ago, a Baldwin County woman came across an article about gas company profits. Already fuming over rising gas prices, she decided to do something to let the world know exactly how she feels.
With no end to the price hike in sight, Andrea Price of Foley had an idea. Coming up with a bumper sticker to let the world know how you feel certainly won’t change anything but it does get people talking.
With talk of four dollar a gallon gas by this summer, Price may need to start working on her next bumper sticker now.
Triple “A” expects gas to hit $3.75 a gallon and beyond by this Spring.

That’s showing those evil companies that are trying to make a profit. How about a bumper sticker to publicize how much money the government collects from gas taxes?
Today, the combined burden of federal, state and local gas taxes costs American drivers an average of 45.9 cents on every gallon purchased. As Figure 2 illustrates, in some states the combined taxes exceed 60 cents for every gallon purchased. According to data on gasoline use from the U.S. Department of Transportation, that amounts to an annual gas tax burden of roughly $271 for every man, woman and child in the United States. In these times of concern over high gas prices, American consumers should remember that gasoline taxes have a significant impact on the amount they spend at the pump.
